descubreBogotá Cinematheque

About

In the historic center of Bogotá and very close to the Journalists' Park is the Bogotá Cinematheque or Cultural Center of Audiovisual Arts—the entity in charge of disseminating the cinematographic arts in the city. The first film festival was held in 1971, and films from different schools were screened, such as classical French cinema, the golden age, and German expressionism, among others. In 1976, it began celebrating the Colombian Film Festival, in collaboration with the then-Colcultura.

It is an important meeting point for young Colombian creators, who have participated since 1994 in the calls created by the Cinematheque to award scholarships and cash prizes to contestants who make audiovisual content according to specific established categories.

This complex includes several screening rooms, an audiovisual research center, a media library, and an exhibition gallery. It is advisable to check its billboard, as it usually offers excellent film cycles.

How to get there?

It is located at the Las Aguas roundabout, between Calle 19 and Carrera 3. The nearest TransMilenio stations are Las Aguas and Universidades.
