The Virgilio Barco Public Library is one of the most important libraries in Bogotá and an important cultural and educational center in the city. Its importance lies in its unique and modern architecture, its extensive bibliographic collection, and the various services and activities it offers to the community. The history of the Virgilio Barco Library dates back to its inauguration in 2001, within the framework of the Bogotá Library Master Plan. The building was designed by architects Rogelio Salmona and Simón Vélez, and is characterized by its innovative and sustainable design, which includes the use of local materials and traditional construction techniques.
