The La Playa Diverse District Route in Chapinero is a tour to experience the diverse, cultural, gastronomic, and entertainment richness of Bogotá.

In harmony with the 2025 Pride Month, we invite you to explore places full of history, life stories, and sensations of the soul where irreverence, resilience, safety and respect come together to build a new and exciting story of Bogotá, the home of all.

La Valija de Fuego

🔹 Description: This is one of the most important countercultural bookstores in the city. Among so many books from independent publishers, punk vinyl, and underground fanzines, you will find the Sexuality and Gender section, which presents publications that explore Colombia’s LGBTI historical and cultural memory. Here, you can attend book launches, discussions, documentary screenings, and other thought-expanding activities.

❖ Petunia Repostería

🔹 Description:  Its 15 staff members—bakers, baristas, and servers—proudly wear overalls embroidered with the LGBTI flag. Petunia is the first bakery in Colombia to formally hire trans people. Its most famous dessert is the Unicorn Poop—a cheesecake covered in rainbow colors. Enjoy the super brunch they organize to celebrate Pride Day.  Here, the love in all its forms comes to life..

Theatrón de Película

🔹 Description: This is one of the most famous nightclubs in the country. Its mega space—nearly 8,000 square meters—has been recognized as the largest in Latin America. It features 17 themed rooms to enjoy great shows with national and international artists and DJs. Up to 8,000 souls can gather there to sing, dance, or play pool to the rhythm of pop, Latin and electronic rhythms, urban music, rock, and other sounds. 

Its most famous events are the Halloween Party, offering big cash prizes for the best costumes; its mega electronic music parties hosted by top international brands; and White Christmas, which takes place a few days before Christmas Eve. Open from Thursday to Saturday, and Sundays on holiday weekends, starting at 9:00 p.m.

❖ Brokeback Mountain

🔹 Description: Inspired by the film Brokeback Mountain, this LGBTI nightclub has four floors: rumba on the first floor, popular music hits on the second, crossover rhythms on the third, and the top floor for private events and celebrations. Wednesdays and Thursdays are special for sharing beers, cocktails, and grilled snacks while singing karaoke. Every Tuesday, there is also a 2-for-1 on margaritas.

❖ Disco Jaguar

🔹 Description: This place features separate spaces for bar and disco. Its design blends 1980s aesthetics, urban art, and neon lights. There are two atmospheres: the first one is more tropical and danceable, and the second one is for jumping and dancing all night long with funk, dancehall, disco, electro-cumbia, and more.

❖ Barraca Teatro

🔹 Description: The history of Colombian pink theater cannot be told without mentioning Corporación Barraca. Founded in 1992, this company has taken its productions to the United States, Europe, and Latin America. At its three-story house in Chapinero, it stages plays that ironize the heteronormative system and delve into the intimate worlds of diverse people. 

If you want to discover an authentic gem of Bogota's gay culture, don't miss the play Un Beso de Dick, based on the novel by writer Fernando Molano Vargas. There, the iconic International Festival of Pink Theater takes place, usually held between July and August.

❖ El Recreo de Adán

🔹 Description: A warm place to hang out with friends or your partner, surrounded by colorful beanbags. This gastrobar's strong point is its cocktails (with or without alcohol), and its must-try dish is the signature nachos. While you wait for your order, you can have fun with board games. If karaoke is your thing, head over on Wednesdays and let the audience rate your performance.

One of the most popular events is the tribute nights to pop divas who defined different generations — from Britney Spears to Miley Cyrus. If you love their music, sing along to the hits and enjoy the Lip Sync show.

How to get there?

  • Private vehicle: From any point in Bogotá, head towards the Chapinero district. Once there, follow the signs to La Valija de Fuego bookstore on Cr. 7 No. 45-52.
  • TransMilenio:  From  Avenida Caracas, get off at Calle 45 Station, and walk five minutes east toward Carrera 7.

Do you want to go?

The route is usually available from Monday to Saturday. If you take the tour without entering the sites, it can take between 1 and 2 hours. As for nightlife entertainment sites, they are open until 3:00 a.m.
