For four days, selected marketplaces and restaurants will offer the best of a dish that represents not only tradition but also a gathering: fritanga. Since its creation in 2020, Fritanga Fest has established an agenda that blends flavor, identity, and local promotion.

In its 2025 edition, the event will bring together more than 60 establishments, including district marketplaces and partner restaurants, where traditional chefs will be the protagonists of Bogotá’s culinary scene.

But what is fritanga?

Fritanga is that dish that tastes like home, like Sunday with the family, like a celebration without excuses. It includes crispy pork belly, well-seared blood sausage, yellow creole potatoes, ribs, sausage, cassava, ripe plantain, and arepa, among other ingredients that vary depending on the region of the country where it is prepared. But beyond the ingredients, what matters most is what it represents: a moment to share, without labels or formalities, just pure Colombian flavor.

In 2024, over 20,000 boxes of fritanga were sold during the festival, and this year, the goal is to go even further: more flavor, more sales, more joy. Each portion sold is much more than food: it is income for a vendor, work for the kitchen staff, and pride for the hands that keep this tradition alive, many of them women who learned the art of fritanga at home, watching their mothers and grandmothers cook.

Where can you enjoy the festival?

The Fritanga Fest will take place in 17 district marketplaces, including Kennedy, La Perseverancia, 20 de Julio, Las Ferias, Quirigua, Fontibón, San Carlos, Santander, and 12 de Octubre. Private restaurants registered with the Sabor Bogotá initiative will also participate, offering creative dishes that use new techniques to reinvent the dish without losing its essence.

The event will feature cultural activities in some of the participating squares, to give families and visitors a complete experience: gastronomy, music, gathering, memory, and city.

How to get there?

To enjoy Fritanga Fest 2025, you can plan your visit according to the closest point:

  • By TransMilenio: Find the routes that stop at stations close to the marketplaces. For example, to get to La Perseverancia Marketplace, the closest station is Museo Nacional, in the Historic Center.
  • By SITP: Most district marketplaces are connected to local routes. Use apps such as Google Maps or Moovit to plan your journey.
  • By private vehicle: Some locations have limited parking spaces. We recommend checking availability or considering other options, such as public parking lots.
  • By bike: Bogotá has an extensive and safe network of bike paths. Many of the plazas are located in easily accessible areas.

The Fritanga Fest is more than just a food festival. It is an opportunity to rediscover Bogotá through its deepest flavors. An invitation to explore its district marketplaces, meet its traditional chefs, and celebrate the diversity that united us through food.

Because each bite has a history, every table has an identity, and each gathering, a city to be savored.
