The 2025 Summer Festival is coming with more than 60 free events in 20 locations, designed for all audiences. For those who live in Bogotá or are visiting, we share the plans you can't miss to enjoy a city that never ceases to amaze. A celebration worthy of the 487th birthday of Colombia's capital. All events will be free, except for some experiences that require prior registration, as explained in the box “Where, how, and when?”.
Concerts that light up the city
On August 2, the iconic Simón Bolívar Park will welcome thousands of people for the Summer Welcome Concert—a free event where artists like Maía, Ciro Quiñónez, and Los Internacionales Rayos de México will get Bogotá dancing from noon until 10:00 p.m.
And to close with a final flourish, on August 10, the Closing Concert returns with a lineup that includes Jessi Uribe, Pipe Bueno, Fariana, Bony Cepeda, and Rikarena, also at Simón Bolívar Park. Two nights to sing at the top of your lungs!
Wheels, tracks, and adventures for everyone
If you move better on wheels, there are experiences almost every day. Choose the one that suits you best.
- Pedalata por Bogotá ((August 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 16, 17, and 24): guided bike tours along coffee or urban art routes. Includes: bike rental and mechanics workshops. Check your starting point: for example, on August 2, the meeting point will be at CEFE Fontanar in Suba, on Calle 144, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Ciclópolis (August 2, 3, 9, and 10): an observation race for cyclists ages 12 and up. The first meeting is at CEFE Tunal, located in El Tunal Metropolitan Park, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Reto Rodante: an obstacle course that winds through parks across the city. From August 4 to 29, the circuit will stop in locations like Bosa, Usaquén, Rafael Uribe, Ciudad Bolívar, Chapinero, and more. Best of all, you don’t need your own bike, so there’s no excuse not to join the fun.
Plans for the whole family and pets
We know that pets are part of the family. That's why we recommend a program that includes activities for everyone, including our four-legged friends.
- Villa Peluda (August 3, CEFE Tunal, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). It will be a paradise for animal lovers: canicross, costume contests, yoga for humans and pets, circuits, and a pet-friendly area.
- Villa Alegría y Villa Infantil (Beach): interactive and themed spaces for children. They will be at the Parque de los Niños y Niñas, on Avenida la Esmeralda with Calle 63, and the CEFE Fontanar between August 3 and 10.
- Recreovillas (August 3): playful activities with recreation specialists in 14 parks in Bogotá, such as the National Park, El Tunal, and Timiza.
Gastronomic Festival and Chinese Night
From August 2 to 10, the Simón Bolívar Park Event Plaza will be filled with flavors during the Gastronomic Festival. On August 8, don't miss Chinese Night—a tribute to China, a cultural and family experience full of games, lights, and shows on the same stage. It's the best time and place to learn about other cultures without leaving Bogotá.
Challenges and competitions to test your body
For lovers of sports and physical activity, Bogotá offers the best competitions and recreational activities to get your body moving and enjoy the city:
- Sube Monserrate (August 2): a vertical race with 1,605 steps to a height of 3,152 meters. Perfect for runners looking to challenge themselves. The race starts at 6:00 a.m. from the pedestrian trail on Monserrate Hill.
- Carrera Atlética de Verano 3K and 10K (August 24): on the bike path on Calle 26. Choose between the recreational or competitive route. Start: 7:00 a.m.
- Campeonato Nacional de Triatlón Sprint (August 24): 400 athletes will compete at the Simón Bolívar Aquatic Complex and Virgilio Barco Park. Admission is free! So you can watch and cheer on the athletes who are participating in this event.
Culture on wheels and outdoors
The city is ready for those who enjoy walking outdoors, riding bikes, skating, or even enjoying the August breeze and exploring Bogotá:
- 17-hour Ciclovía – Guinness World Record (August 7): Bogotá will experience an unforgettable day with 98.4 km active bike lanes until midnight.
- Andariegos (August 10 and 17): Guided walks with challenges and games in parks such as Simón Bolívar and El Renacimiento.
- Kite Festival (August 10, El Tunal Park, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.): A sky full of colors with workshops, exhibitions, and free flight.
Where, how, and where?
All events are free. Most don’t require prior registration, but for those that do—such as races or bike tours—you can sign up through the Bike School, the Vive IDRD app, or in person at designated locations.
