An economic impact is defined as an injection, inflow, or influx of capital into an economy or specific sector—whether provided by the State or from international sources—benefiting a wide range of economic and social stakeholders. It may take the form of extraordinary aid and subsidies, remittances from emigrants, revenue from foreign tourists, or export earnings.

In the case of Bogotá, the cultural sector played a fundamental role in this dynamic throughout 2025. Culture contributed COP 20.8 trillion (4.8% of local GDP). Large-scale events such as the Estéreo Picnic Festival (COP 154 billion), Cordillera Festival (COP 74.6 billion) and the Christmas season (COP 1.2 trillion)

In addition, more than 18,000 cultural events took place, including 2,243 concerts that attracted nearly four million attendees, consolidating Bogotá as a key venue for major shows and cultural development.

Other figures

The dynamism of the “Marca Bogotá” is reflected in traveler preferences, especially from key markets such as Venezuela, the United States, and Mexico. The 2.6% growth in international visitors (reaching nearly 1.9 million people) is intrinsically linked to a world-class events calendar and a gastronomic scene that positions the city as one of the culinary capitals of the region.

According to the figures, Bogotá was chosen for its diverse offer that integrates culture, gastronomy, events, heritage, neighborhoods with identity, and authentic local experiences. This approach consolidated the city as a destination that transcends traditional tourism, where urban experience and daily city life are decisive factors in the travel choices of international visitors.

Additional Impacts

  • Cultural and tourism Impact: The cultural sector generated more than 235,000 jobs, accounting for 51% of the national sector. Christmas season 2025 projected an attendance of over 1.2 million people.
  • Sports Events: Events managed by IDRD in 2025 generated an economic impact of COP 192.855 billion.
  • Tourism and Business: A total of 14.8 million visitors were projected, with an impact of more than COP 6 trillion in accommodation and gastronomy. Events such as Living Data 2025 stand out in the business tourism segment.
