Between October 30 and 31, Bogotá will host World Cities Day, an annual event organized by the United Nations (UN-Habitat). The Colombian capital was chosen as the host city thanks to its efforts to become a greener, smarter, and more connected and inclusive city, where sustainable mobility, parks, and cultural spaces are integrated to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors. This recognition consolidates our city as a global destination for urban innovation, sustainability, vibrant culture, and smart tourism.

Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2013 and celebrated every year at the end of October, this international platform for reflecting on the urban future and smart, sustainable and inclusive cities, allows Bogotá to open its doors to the world and share its transformation: from its extensive network of bike paths and commitment to electric transportation, to its environmental restoration initiatives and the revitalization of heritage neighborhoods.
Bogotá: a smart city
With the theme “Smart cities serving people”, the World Cities Day will bring together representatives from governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, academia, and civil society, promoting the exchange of best practices to address the contemporary urban challenges. It will be the perfect opportunity to discover a city that blends modernity and tradition, reinventing itself among mountains and art every day, and inviting people to explore its streets with curiosity and pride.

Bogotá is recognized as a smart tourism city for its focus on technology, sustainability, and innovation to improve the visitor experience, thanks to its digital infrastructure, applications, circular economy initiatives, accessibility, and data-driven management.
Best urban practices and innovations, commitment to sustainability, mobility, and environment, as well as the opportunity to strengthen its global role, are also some of the reasons to reflect both the city’s progress and its willingness to lead the global debate on sustainable urbanization.
