The house where 'Betty, the Fea' was recorded: a tourist charm beyond fiction
The remembered house where the Pinzón family lived - Don Hermes, Doña Julia and of course, Beatriz - in the successful soap opera of the late 1990s, became a place of visit for tourists coming to Bogotá.
Although 'I am Betty, the ugly' issued its final chapter in May 2001, the most successful soap opera in history - according to the prestigious Guinness record - remains a massive phenomenon. Not only for the repetitions that are broadcast all over the planet and for the recent versions that gave continuity to history 24 years later: that house located in the traditional Teusaquillo neighborhood became a real tourist attraction.
Although it is worth clarifying that it is only possible to visit it in half because the only real location used in the production was the blue celestial facade, as the inner scenes were recorded in the RCN Canal studies. Even so, it is an iconic and impermissible place for the fans of the 'ugly most loved in the world' who visit Bogotá.
The house, located in the 18th race # 43a-59, is a tourist point where visitors are found with phrases allusive to the telenovela and exchange memories and longings, which can be acquired in souvenirs.

Although the house is not inhabited, it is in perfect condition of conservation. An allegorical museum to the telenovela, a photo station and a cafe are part of the services. The entrance is free. But, yes, it is suggested to consume some of the products that are offered there, especially the black juice, that favorite drink of Betty and Nicolás Mora, the dear friend of the protagonist.
The ugly, a global phenomenon
The Colombian telenovela, written by Fernando Gaitán, is the most successful in the history of national television. It has been issued in more than 180 countries and has been doubled to 25 languages. Success is so important, that 28 adaptations were made in countries such as India and South Korea and are still being transmitted through the RCN digital channel and on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime.

The hours of attention for all audiences are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Monday to Saturday. The house is closed on public holidays. It has a guide service in several languages.
