Designed by Friar Domingo de Petrés, its construction began in 1805 and lasted 111 years. It was inaugurated and consecrated on November 19, 1916. The cathedral, notable for its neoclassical architecture, is a national monument of great historical and religious value, distinguished by its austere architecture and its role as a diocesan seat. 

This cathedral opens its doors as a place of special grace. Here, the faithful can receive a plenary indulgence, fulfilling the requirements of confession, communion, and prayer.
