The park, located in the La Cabrera neighborhood, between Carrera Séptima and the Autopista Norte, along Calle 88, is above all a green lung of the city, a beautiful corridor through which the waters of the stream of the same name flow.
Breathing its air and being dazzled by its trees and meadows is an invitation to pause the hustle and bustle of the city and become aware of the importance of environmental action. Playing sports, walking your pet, strolling with your partner, and even having a picnic are some of the fun activities the park offers.
Recognized as a space dedicated to ecology and passive recreation, this 8.2-kilometer-long park is surrounded by a network of bike paths (it can be explored by bike and is part of the city's bike path network), six children's play areas, three pedestrian trails, and more than 12 plazas that allow visitors to enjoy a wide variety of animal species. If you look closely during your visit, you can spot, among other things: 71 species of birds, 32 of which are migratory; 20 species of pollinating flower flies; 4 species of dragonflies; 20 types of butterflies; 2 bats; 10 kinds of bees; 4 species of hummingbirds; and 2 species of owls.
The park's largest and most visited areas include the Plazoleta de las Flores (Flower Plaza) and the sculpture of the Gran Cascada (Great Waterfall), a work by the Colombian artist Edgar Negret. It is undoubtedly a major tourist attraction in the city, often compared to New York's Central Park in terms of its size and the activities that take place there.
