Five places to enjoy the LGBTI rumba in Bogotá

Bogotá is not only a diverse and inclusive city. It is recognized in Latin America for its lively nightlife aimed at the LGBTIQ + community. It is estimated that there are more than 100 establishments with which the city has, between bars, clubs, and discos with different environments. Most of these sites are located in the Diververse District, in the Chapinero district, although they can also be found in other sectors of the capital.

During the month of June, the 'month of Lgbtiq +' pride, or of the 'pride', inspired by the June 28, 1969 riots at the New York bar Stonewall, is celebrated in the world. Following a raid by the police at the establishment of the "Gran Manzana," members of this group began a series of social demonstrations due to the persecution and discrimination that they have suffered throughout history.

The dog and the calandria

This canteen, located in the heart of Chapinero, is ideal for starting the night. This is a classic of the Lgbtiq + community, recognized for the music that encourages the place: Juan Gabriel's classics, Rocío Durcal, Yuri, Daniela Romo, Pandora and other exponents of the so-called 'iron music', which the attendees sing to 'wounded cry'. As the hours pass, the '70s and' 80s ballads are mixed with the classic tropical orchestras. Their karaoke nights and the transformist presentations are famous.

Theatron

What happened several decades ago was a traditional theatre in the Chapinero neighborhood, which ended up becoming the Theatre: the largest club in Bogotá and a reference in nightlife and the LGBTIQ + community in Latin America. With 19 thematic environments distributed over 7,500 square meters, this renowned club offers a variety of spaces to enjoy the night: dance hall & afro, regueton, pop, urban, salsa, merengue and two canteens with the best popular and vallenata music. It also has dance courts, bars, terraces, restaurant, food area and rest areas. Their first level shows are famous and are offered in the main hall.

Chiquita Bar

This iconic bar was born in 2017 in Medellín and in 2003 opened its doors in Bogotá. With a colorful kitsch concept and inspired by the Moulin Rouge cabaret in Paris, it was born as a platform for the Drag Queens to present first-level shows. And at the headquarters of the Colombian capital you can not only appreciate these shows: also of lively nights with electronic music, regueton and pop. The bunker

Located in Chapinero, El Búnker has four lively environments for its visitors: a crossover terrace to dance at the rate of merengue, salsa, vallenato and tropical; a canteen where the e-xites of popular music sound; an urban room where you can dance at the rate of the dance hall and the regueto; and a tribal room, in which the beats of the music or the rhythm of recognized DJ resonate.

Leos Mystical Bar

Another recommended site is Leos Mystical Bar: a club with different environments where you will enjoy a very entertaining night. On your dance floor you can dance different musical rhythms (regueton, electronic, tropical music) and witness the viscous presentations of Drag girls. For those who love ranches and so-called 'iron music' there is a canteen. On the third floor there is another lively crossover space.
