Get to know Bogotá on wheels: a bike trip in the capital
If you are looking for a unique and exciting way to discover Bogotá, we invite you to a bike tour that will take you on a time trip in some of the most iconic corners of the city.
Meet Bogotá on wheels
We started this exciting adventure from the Centro Comercial Avenida Chilelocated at 72 # 10-34, by Bogexplore, a travel agency composed of Javier Arias and Magda Coronado: two people who point to a sustainable, cultural and creative tourism.
This is a perfect meeting point in the heart of the city. Although modern buildings abound there, in its structure and construction the history of what were formerly neighbouring villages of Santa Fe de Bogotá persists. An example is the Parish Our Lady of Angels (La Porciuncula), a church of neo-Gothic architecture whose construction dates back to 1919.

A bike trip through the capital
Our first stop takes us to the Lourdes Plazoletalocated in the 13th race with 63 street, home of the imposing Minor Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes. This church, with its neo-Gothic style, rises as a historical and cultural emblem of Bogotá. In this space you can enjoy the peasant and artisanal sales that revitalize the square, promoting the sense of community and the local economy. Architecture transports you in time, from the 1920s to the 1960s, in what we could call a 'time machine' that connects past and present.
We continue our adventure on wheels, following the cichlorroute of 69th Street, until we reach the Virgil Barco Librarylocated on La Esmeralda Avenue (# 57-60), a work by the famous Colombian-French architect Rogelio Salmona. This place is an urban and educational shelter surrounded by green areas, ideal for a short break and for running lovers.
Here you can enjoy a refreshment while watching families, children and their pets share moments of joy and well-being. The tranquility of the environment and its relaxed environment make it a perfect space to connect with nature without leaving the city.

A stop in an oasis in the middle of the city
The route continues towards the Simon Bolívar Park, a place where you breathe pure air in the middle of the concrete. You enter our bikes at the entrance to 53rd Street. Enjoy your trails, lakes and green areas. This park, the largest in Bogotá, is a meeting point for athletes, families and tourists looking for a pause in the city's accelerated pace. Here, the connection with nature is immediate as you pedal through its paths surrounded by trees and imposing views.
From the park Simón Bolívar we are headed for the Marielita Farm, located in the La Esmeralda Park (race 54 # 44c). This place is a true paradise for animal lovers. You'll find rabbits, ducks, rooster, chickens and more. The farm is a tribute to a neighborhood neighbor, Marielita, who dedicated his life to environmental action. It is an educational and playful space that connects visitors to the nature and importance of environmental care. Here, calm and interaction with animals make this corner quite special and entertaining.
Our next and last stop is in the famous house where the soap opera was recorded 'I'm Betty, the ugly one. '. Located in the 18th race # 43 A - 59, it has become a coffee where visitors can dive into the universe of this successful program. Each corner of the house has been preserved to tell the story of how one of the most popular programs of Colombian television was recorded. In addition, the aroma of coffee envelopes you as you discover details and anecdotes on the shooting, making this visit an immersive and nostalgia-filled experience.

Bogotá in cychlorroutes
With 590 kilometres of permanent cychlorroutes, Bogotá has positioned itself as an ideal city to explore by bike. This tour is not only safe and reliable, but also offers you the opportunity to know the city in a sustainable way through its culture, architecture and urban landscapes. Each stop on this tour will connect you with the history and transformation of the capital, allowing you to appreciate both its past and its present.
And although the journey in words sounds short, the experience of the 20 kms, among the cars, the main avenues and streets, the classic and English-style neighborhoods, the parks and much more, confirm that knowing the city by bike is a different, entertaining and especially sports option.
At the end of our visit to the house of 'Betty, the ugly one', we end our tour taking 43rd Street, connecting again to 77th Street, our starting point. After four hours of pedaling, we will finish this incredible journey that takes us through different times and representative spaces of Bogotá.
