The Plaza Cultural La Santamaría, formerly a bullring, is located in the San Diego sector, in the eastern part of the International Center.

It was built in 1931 with a capacity for 14,500 visitors. The current facade is the work of the Spanish architect Santiago de la Mora. Its brick facades are characterized by their Neo-Mudéjar style.

On July 1, 1917, the new San Diego Bullring was inaugurated, a wooden structure with a capacity for 6,000 spectators, located 300 meters from the site where the current Plaza Cultural La Santamaría would be built 14 years later.

The plaza has hosted concerts by musical groups such as Móvil, La Ley, UB40, Maná, Soda Stereo, Gustavo Cerati, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Miguel Bosé, and Ana Torroja, as well as cultural performances as part of the former Ibero-American Theater Festival.

Today, it's an arts and culture center, hosting performances and sporting tournaments. They've even used the sand to create a children's beach. It's a cultural icon and was declared a National Monument in 1984.
