It is an imposing white-painted church with adobe roofs, located in the heart of Bogotá. It has stood since 1606, witnessing the city's development throughout the centuries.

The parish is located in the San Diego neighborhood, in the heart of the International Center, and is a reminder of the enduring faith and the city's rich cultural and architectural heritage.

The first stage of the church's history begins in 1606, when, with the support of Philip III of Spain, Franciscan friars settled there. The second stage spans from 1897 to 1927, when San Diego was elevated to a chaplaincy. The third stage occurred in 1929 when it became a parish.

The current building comprises a Neocolonial-style cloister where the rectory is located, with vehicular access from Carrera Décima. The entrance to the complex is located to the south of the building, where Centenario Park once stood. Next to it is a larger cloister, which features a fountain at its center and a second floor on three sides of the courtyard, housing shops. Inside, it boasts outstanding works of religious art.

In addition to its history and heritage, this church is renowned as an ideal space for prayer and attending Eucharistic celebrations.

It is an oasis of tranquility amidst the bustle of the city and a true architectural and religious gem.
