Public Sports Library - Chapinero Happiness Center
📍 Calle 82 #10-69
The Public Sports Library, located in the current Chapinero Happiness Center, opened its doors on October 17, 2024, inheriting some of the bibliographic and recreational resources from the collection previously housed in the Public Sports and Physical Activity Library, formerly located in the Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium. Its current collection boasts a wide selection of graphic novels, children's literature, and a robust general collection for all ages, with a particular focus on health, physical activity, and sports.
The library's programming encompasses a variety of activities aimed at diverse age groups and population groups, with a particular emphasis on its work with individuals with cognitive disabilities. All its activities incorporate a cross-cutting component, from physical activity and the promotion of healthy habits and lifestyles, fostering self-care and mutual support while introducing users to culture, sports, reading, writing, oral expression, and movement.
Similarly, the library features an innovative space designed for the social appropriation of knowledge: the LabCo Room, which focuses on thematic areas of nature, mobility, and public space; gender, inclusion, and diversity; and crafting, self-managed production, and sound exploration. It is also equipped with soft materials for translating ideas into sketches and models, as well as manual, power, and audiovisual tools such as cameras, voice recorders, and microphones, among others. In addition, it has CNI manufacturing equipment, including 3D filament and fluid material printers and a CNC router..
In this regard, the Public Sports Library has particular strengths in its work with people with disabilities and senior citizens, populations it has served since its initial phase at El Campín stadium. In its new location at the Chapinero Happiness Center, this library space consolidates its experience while welcoming new users with programs such as the Kairos Senior Citizens Club and Story Time, as well as guided tours, co-creation labs, creative challenges, technology learning and immersion workshops, and much more.
The Public Sports Library is a space for encounter, movement, and transformation where the citizens of Bogotá can discover how the interests and stories of their entire community intertwine.
* The library has bicycle parking for its users.
