Teatro Nacional

It all begins as an idea that lingers within us, a growing need, a great love that drives us. This is also how the National Theater emerged: a project brimming with the courage and sincerity of something born from within,” expressed its founder, the late Argentine artist Fanny Mikey.

It is an artistic complex with four venues located in different parts of Bogotá: La 71 (Calle 71 # 10-25), the first of them all, whose performing arts programming opened to the public in 1981; followed by La Castellana (Calle 95 # 47-15) and the Casa del Teatro Nacional (Carrera 20 # 37-54). The most recent, inaugurated in 2024, is Leonardvs, located at Carrera 21 # 127-23. 

All three venues are equipped with stages featuring the infrastructure and technology necessary for staging top-tier performances. And all of them boast a permanent program that includes classic and contemporary plays, musicals, and even comedies. 

The La Castellana venue has the largest capacity and is the space for concerts, conferences, and commercially produced plays. Meanwhile, the Casa del Teatro has established itself as one of Bogotá's most important cultural and theatrical centers, offering a consistently wide repertoire of classic and contemporary works, national and international stage productions, as well as new works by young directors and actors, promoting the dramatic arts for everyone.
