Are you going to run the Bogotá Marathon? We present to you places where you can train outdoors

Bogotá is preparing to receive thousands of runners on July 26, 2026, when the streets of the capital are again the stage of version 26 of the Media Marathon of Bogotá (mmB). But beyond the competition, the city offers a wide network of parks, trails and sports spaces that allow visitors to maintain their physical preparation and discover some of the main tourist attractions.

Bogotá, at 2,600 meters above sea level, is an ideal scenario where the altitude exposes your body to a hypoxia environment (lower oxygen in the air), which forces you to produce more red blood cells, increases your aerobic capacity and improves your resistance naturally. In this context, the city offers you a series of natural scenarios for good training and outdoor.

    District parks

The capital of Colombia has approximately 5,000 parks, most of which are managed by the District Institute of Recreation and Sport (IDRD), providing outdoor spaces so that citizens can safely carry out their sports training in special areas and areas.

Among the most recommended places to run are emblematic parks such as The National Olaya Herrerain the eastern centre of the city, ideal for training in large green areas; The Viceroywhose arborized corridor has become one of the favorites of runners and walkers; and scenarios such as Timiza and The Tunalthey offer circuits surrounded by nature and a varied infrastructure for sports practice.

In the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park

With about 113 hectares, this park is considered the largest and most important in the city because of its location, spaces and variety of scenarios that make up it. Ideal for funds (also known as long distance racing, are athletics tests where participants must travel long distances, prioritizing resistance and aerobic capacity over explosive speed), the Simón Bolívar Park is one of the most relevant recreational spaces in Latin America and where we recommend four options for a good preparation in athletics:

    1. Take a tour of the herring or gravel track inside the park, which has good structural conditions and allows you to run about 3.5 km.
    2. Run along the other trails inside the park, including the pedestrian track, which allows you to complete a tour of about 4 km.
    3. Jumping around the park, on 69th Street, the 60th race, then going down on 53rd and back all the way down to Av. 68. This route is completed about 4.5 kilometres.
    4. Also, many people make the previous circuit plus a tour of the Virgil Barco library, which is an additional triangle, increasing the distance by about 2 kilometers.

    High mountain trails

For those who seek the most demanding challenges and a direct connection with nature, the paths of the Eastern hills they represent a unique and special experience when it comes to altimetries. Routes like The Moyas, The Old One, Santa Ana- La Aguadora, Guadeloupe, the Serrania, Vicachá or Monserrate (whose path offers 1,605 steps spread over 2.4 km, which is equivalent to winning more than 500 meters of positive level) allow to train in height while enjoying spectacular panoramic city, high Andean forests and a rich biodiversity that make each tour a tourist and sports experience.

    For high performance

Athletes who prefer specialized spaces can also take advantage of the facilities of High Performance Centre (CAR) on Avenida Calle 63 # 59a-06; one of the most important sports complexes in the country. This scenario has infrastructure designed for the training of high-level athletes and has been consolidated as a reference for those who seek to optimize their physical preparation before great skills.

Thus, Bogotá will not only host the mmB 2026, but also the perfect destination for combining sport, well-being and tourism. Its urban parks, ecological trails and high-performance scenarios offer national and international corridors the opportunity to train while discovering the natural, cultural and landscape diversity of a city that lives the sport in each corner.
