Military Museum of Colombia

TThe Military Museum offers a meticulously organized exhibition that recounts the history of the Colombian Armed Forces from their origins. Each of its eleven rooms and two courtyards presents a chronological collection of items that captivate visitors with a historical journey complemented by written information and specialized guided tourss.

Inaugurated on August 6, 1982, it houses an important collection of sculptures, historical documents, decorations, military uniforms, weapons, vehicles, and models that illustrate the history and technical evolution of the Colombian Armed Forces.

The museum also features a specialized library with over 2,000 reference materials (books, magazines, encyclopedias, manuals, regulations, newspapers, and facsimile documents) on various topics (military history, weaponry, uniforms, medals, and Colombian history) and in different languages. In addition, it houses the "SP. Libio José Martínez Estrada" Hall of Memory and Dignity, the only space in the country dedicated to recognizing members of the public security forces as victims of the internal armed conflict.

The museum staff comprises officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, and civilians appointed by each branch of the armed forces through a special commission. The guides include soldiers wounded in combat, who possess in-depth knowledge of the collection and the skills to engage visitors of all ages and educational backgrounds.
