The High-Performance Center of the Ministry of Sport (CAR), located in the heart of Bogotá, is Colombia's premier sports complex and one of the most important in Latin America, dedicated exclusively to the development and training of high-performance Colombian and international athletes, both conventional and Paralympic.

The sports complex belongs to the Association of Sport Performance Centers (ASPC), a network of 96 centers across five continents.

The CAR is distinguished by its innovative design and its integration with the natural environment. The building features an urban staircase that runs through all levels, especially the terraces, which not only offer spaces for socializing and sports recreation but also enhance the visual and natural connection with the surrounding Simón Bolívar Park.

The complex occupies an area of ​​34 hectares and is located at an altitude of 2,620 meters above sea level. It's important to remember that Bogotá's climate is characterized by low temperature fluctuations due to its tropical location, with an average temperature of 19°C and an average relative humidity of 75%. There are two rainy seasons, in April and October, with a total annual rainfall of 1,000 mm.

The CAR's facilities and indoor venues total 19,000 m² and include five (5) multipurpose sports venues, an indoor archery range, a UEFAF Specialized Strength and Conditioning Unit, an Olympic-size swimming pool, a Sports Science Center, accommodation for 120 athletes with all amenities, and a Doping Control Laboratory certified by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

It also features outdoor sports facilities, including a certified athletics track with a 600-seat grandstand, five (5) professional soccer fields, seven (7) mini-soccer fields, two (2) outdoor multi-purpose hard courts, six (6) hard tennis courts and four (4) clay courts, an archery range with eight (8) targets, and a beach volleyball court. In addition, it has multi-purpose arenas for sports such as volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, futsal, shooting, fencing, combat sports, and table tennis.

The complex also offers locker rooms, an events plaza, a cafeteria, common areas, a meeting room, a first-aid station, rest areas, and administrative offices.

📍 How to get there

The High-Performance Center (CAR) in Bogotá is located in the El Salitre Sports Complex, on Avenida Calle 63, very close to Simón Bolívar Park and the Sports Palace. You can reach it by TransMilenio via the Salitre–El Greco or Simón Bolívar stations, from where you can walk a few minutes or take feeder and SITP bus routes that circulate in the area.

If you prefer to go by car, you can access it via Avenida Calle 63, Carrera 60, or Avenida 68. Nearby, you'll find parking options and excellent road connections to other sports and cultural venues in the area, making the High-Performance Center easily accessible for athletes and visitors.
