The Teatro Mayor is a cultural venue with a wide range of performing arts shows. Its state-of-the-art technology makes it a versatile and sophisticated stage, capable of hosting world-class dance, theater, and music productions.

It has a capacity of 1,300 spectators, three levels, and a carefully designed layout, guaranteeing optimal sightlines and sound quality from every seat, even the last row, 28 meters from the stage. It also features five dressing rooms and a special lounge where artists can comfortably prepare before each performance.

Inaugurated in 2010, this public infrastructure project of the Bogotá City Hall was built thanks to a donation from the Santo Domingo family to the Capital District. Recognized as a sophisticated cultural complex, it includes a public library with more than 150,000 books, offering free workshops, master classes, and dress rehearsals for students and professionals in music, theater, and dance.

From the moment you step into the theater, you are enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication. The acoustics of its impressive main auditorium are impeccable, making it the perfect venue for enjoying symphonic concerts, operas, plays, ballet, and a wide variety of international performances. It features an orchestra pit measuring 7.70 x 20.40 meters, with a capacity for 75 musicians and two mobile platforms that allow the orchestra to be raised and lowered. The stage rigging system includes 49 bars for raising and lowering lights, scenery, and curtains, two lighting trusses, and a space for follow spots. The hall's design, with its elegant combination of wood and warm tones, creates a sense of intimacy between the artists and the audience, making each performance both intimate and captivating.

The Teatro Mayor not only offers a diverse program ranging from classical to contemporary, but also hosts world-renowned cultural events, such as music and dance festivals that attract artists from every continent. In addition, it has the Studio Theatre, a smaller and more versatile space that allows for artistic experimentation in a welcoming environment.
