Since its opening on May 26, 2010, the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Public Library and Cultural Center has been a cultural landmark in northern Bogotá. It is a beautiful place boasting modern architecture and innovative spaces, designed by Colombian architect Daniel Bermúdez.

Located in the San José de Bavaria neighborhood (an upscale area of the city), this impressive 23,000-square-meter complex offers a mega-library with space for 150,000 books, the Teatro Mayor for large-scale performances, and the Teatro Estudio for intimate concerts, contemporary dance, and innovative performances.

On the first floor, there is a children's room that integrates the different reading spaces for children, as well as the baby library and playroom. From there, it is also possible to access the 'Huertoteca Corazón Verde' (Green Heart Garden Library), an urban garden managed jointly by the community and staff to experiment and share knowledge on environmental issues and food sovereignty, among others. On this same floor, you can find the Graphic District Room, which houses a wide collection of titles focused on comics, manga, graphic novels, and serialized literature.

On the third floor is the General Reading Room, which offers a welcoming space for reading, learning, and creativity. There, you will find an extensive collection of books, digital media, and collaborative workspaces in individual cubicles and on the mezzanine.

The building was erected through a public-private partnership between the Bogotá City Hall and private companies, and guarantees excellent programming that enriches the city's cultural life.

The library has bicycle parking for its users.
