Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel
📍 Carrera 3 con calle 4, parque principal de Guaduas (Cundinamarca)
The Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel is one of the main tourist attractions in the town of Guaduas. Its construction began over 200 years ago, when its cornerstone was laid on August 1, 1809, based on a design by Friar Domingo de Petres.
Due to ever-present budgetary constraints, the church was initially built with only one tower, the right one, and remained so until 1960, when the left tower was added.
Located in the heart of Guaduas' historic center, Saint Michael the Archangel witnessed the passage of colonial authorities, merchants, and travelers along the Royal Road. Today, every panoramic view of the town of Guaduas is adorned with the pristine white of the cathedral and crowned by its presence.
