Soratama Ecological Park
📍 Carrera 2 este # 167–42, Bogotá.
What was once a mining area in northern Bogotá has now been completely transformed into a tranquil zone of reforestation and ecological restoration. This is Soratama Ecological Park, where significant stabilization processes are underway, allowing the quarrying operations to cease and transforming the area into a green haven for the enjoyment of Bogotá residents and visitors.
The park, also known as the 'Soratama Environmental Classroom,' is part of the Eastern Forest Reserve of Bogotá, a space brimming with nature and a prominent ecological corridor with exceptional potential for birdwatching, including species such as the Rufous-collared Sparrow (Synalaxis subpudica) and various hummingbird species.
It features several trails offering stunning views of the Bogotá landscape. In addition to the viewpoints, you'll observe interesting geological formations, diverse soil types, and numerous underground aquifers. One of the most striking features of the classroom is the "Weeping Stone," a spring that flows amidst nature.
All tours are guided, and you have the option to participate in workshops and activities focused on education and, of course, environmental awareness.
You can get there by any public transport heading north on Carrera 7 to the Soratama neighborhood in the Usaquén district. Get off at Calle 167 and walk to Carrera 2. If you're taking the SITP (Integrated Public Transport System), lines 18 and 7 will work.
