This mansion museum, surrounded by ten hectares of gardens with centuries-old trees, transports its visitors to an old estate on the Bogotá savanna. Originally owned by Mercedes Sierra de Pérez—a prominent lady of Bogotá society at the time—she donated it to the city in 1921 along with funds to establish a museum. Mercedes Sierra de Pérez was the daughter of the well-known early 20th-century merchant, Don Pepe Sierra, who owned significant properties and large tracts of land in different parts of the country.

This place in northeastern Bogotá features ten rooms, a chapel, and an exhibition of objects collected by Doña Mercedes during her travels across four continents. The collection includes crystal, glass, porcelain, textiles, ceramics, and gold and silver work, along with a display of everyday life.

In 2005, the museum was renovated and reorganized into themed spaces that reflect the materials of the exhibited pieces, such as European and American Goldsmithing, The Bath, The Chapel, Starry Sky, Combined Materials, and the Doña Mercedes Room.

We recommend exploring the beautiful gardens and the children's playground, as well as taking advantage of the property for hosting various types of fairs. Immerse yourself in this historical and cultural experience at 'El Museo del Chicó,' a green oasis in this part of the capital.
