Olaya Herrera Stadium
📍 Calle 21 # 25 - 35 Sur
In the southeastern part of the Colombian capital, in the Rafael Uribe Uribe district, in the neighborhood of the same name, lies the Olaya Herrera Stadium, a space dedicated to the well-being and recreation of the community.
Originating in the 1950s, this venue, which initially served as a dirt field for the residents of the Centenario and Olaya neighborhoods, is now a major sports complex in Bogotá.
The stadium offers a wide range of activities designed to promote community engagement, exercise, and enjoyment of the outdoors, as well as a space that the community has embraced as its own, particularly its children's play areas.
In terms of its infrastructure, the stadium boasts a synthetic turf soccer field and a natural grass field, where matches are played in the Colombian Second Division and the country's oldest amateur tournament, the Olaya Tournament. In addition, it features a grandstand with a capacity for 2,500 spectators, locker rooms, a netted tennis court, several futsal and basketball courts, a skatepark, a boxing gym, and food concessions.
By 2023, the stadium had undergone a complete renovation, including new lighting for night games, locker rooms for referees and players, new VIP boxes, press tables, and a press room. Thanks to these renovations and improvements by the IDRD (District Institute of Recreation and Sports), the stadium received approval from Dimayor (the Colombian professional football league) to host matches.
By public transport: You can take the TransMilenio bus rapid transit system along the Caracas line and get off at the Olaya or Quiroga stations. From either of these stations, the stadium is about a 10- to 15-minute walk. Several SITP bus routes also run along Carrera 10, Avenida Caracas, and Calle 27 Sur, with stops near the stadium.
By car: From the north or south, take Avenida Caracas or Carrera 10 and head towards the Olaya neighborhood in the Rafael Uribe Uribe district. The stadium is located near Calle 27 Sur, with access via main roads. If you are attending a sporting event, it is recommended to arrive early due to heavy traffic and limited parking in the surrounding area.
