Discover the fascinating collection of the Santa Clara Museum, composed primarily of objects that once belonged to the old Clariana Church, where colors, techniques, and styles intertwine. 'Saint Martin of Tours Sharing His Cloak with a Poor Man' is the first work donated to the museum in 1647, marking the beginning of a collection that reflects the transformations of the church from the 17th to the 21st centuries.

The Museum is the only remaining fragment of what was once the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara, founded in 1628 by Archbishop Hernando Arias de Ugarte. The monastery was demolished at the end of the first decade of the 20th century, and only the church survives.

In addition to paintings, sculptures, prints, altarpieces, silverware, textiles, and colonial furniture, the Santa Clara Museum exhibits contemporary artworks donated by artists who have exhibited in this space. This unique combination offers visitors a vibrant perspective on the history and artistic evolution of this emblematic place.

The Santa Clara Museum, compared to other museums in the city, has a smaller space, but this is compensated for by its intimate and almost mystical atmosphere. It's a must-see in Bogotá!
