Its religious history dates back to an old colonial hermitage, later becoming a neo-Gothic temple with an imposing Marian dedication. Its patron saint festivities are celebrated every September 15th, uniting tradition and devotion. 

The temple once housed the remains of the martyrs of Zipaquirá, which are now located in the city's cathedral.

📍 How to get there

From Bogotá by car, take the Autopista Norte (North Highway) towards Zipaquirá. You'll pass through Chía and Cajicá. Upon arriving in Zipaquirá, follow the signs to the Historic Center / Salt Cathedral. Once in the center, head to the La Concepción neighborhood; the church is a few blocks from the main square.. 

From Bogotá by public transport: Option 1 – Intercity bus. Go to Portal Norte or Calle 170. Take a bus to Zipaquirá. Upon arrival at the terminal or in the center, you can walk or take a taxi to the La Concepción neighborhood. 

Option 2 – Sabana Tourist Train (weekends): Departs from the Sabana Station in Bogotá. It goes directly to Zipaquirá. From the station, the church is a 10–15 minute walk.
