he Gabriel García Márquez Public Library is a cultural gem located in El Tunal Park, in the Tunjuelito district of southern Bogotá. It opened its doors to the public on May 10, 2001, under the name El Tunal Park Public Library. On June 18, 2014, in honor of the Colombian writer and Nobel Laureate in Literature, it was renamed the Gabriel García Márquez Public Library.

Today, it houses 84,139 items, including books, audiovisual materials, publications, and electronic devices. It also serves approximately two million residents from the districts of Tunjuelito, Rafael Uribe, Ciudad Bolívar, San Cristóbal, Antonio Nariño, and Usme. Welcome to this temple of knowledge, which has become a meeting point for these areas of southern Bogotá.

The library features a central section that provides access to the building's main lobby and leads equidistantly to the children's area, internet access, classrooms, auditorium (seating 213), plaza/café, and administrative offices.

If you take TransMilenio, the main lines that will take you to El Tunal station are: the Caracas trunk line (southbound), specifically B11, G11, F11, among others, depending on the time of day. When you arrive at El Tunal station, exit and walk approximately 5 to 10 minutes to Calle 47 Sur and Carrera 18, where the library is located.

By SITP bus, take routes A541, G502, G506, or G516, depending on your location when you board the route.
